Advisor, Student Housing
Roger Hensman has served as a retained advisor to W. P. Carey since September 2011. Currently he is responsible for structuring student housing developments on behalf of W. P. Carey’s managed programs.
Roger began his career with Lehman Brothers in its Real Estate Group and subsequently worked for LSI Management where he sourced and closed investments for the AIM listed fund. In 2009, he founded Cityhill Capital LLP, which focused on the acquisition of distressed commercial mortgage-backed securities. Roger has significant development experience having been involved in developing residential sites in the U.K. since 2013. In his capacity as an advisor to W. P. Carey, Roger structured W. P. Carey’s first investments in India, Mauritius and Ghana. In addition, he has been instrumental in establishing the firm’s student housing initiatives, including fundraising and investing Carey European Student Housing Fund 1 (“CESH 1”).
Roger graduated magna cum laude from Cambridge University with an MA in Geography and an MPhil in Real Estate Finance.
